With diabetes, is there any new technology that allows non invasive glucose monitoring?
Filed under Diabetes QuestionsSep 18Or any trans-dermal methods of insulin delivery that do not require needles? Son has CF related diabetes. At present he only needs 1 injection of 24 hour Lantus insulin. In the future, perhaps soon, he may need the regular injections every time he eats and the more frequent testing. Is there any new stuff out there, aside from the pump, that could make this less painful?

I have a friend that brought up an interesting question…On a routine examine, her doctor did a HbA1c test that came back as 5.7% but her FSB (fasting blood sugar test) came back as 133, should a diagnosis of diabetes be made with those numbers?

I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow and due to my weight of 315 pounds and the fact that I would be considered morbidly obese with a BMI greater than 40, I will most likely be tested for type 2 diabetes. I wouldn’t be suprised if I do have it though.

She has other diabetes related conditions, but cannot afford the medications. She does not seem to qualify for medicaid or medicare. Are there any programs available to help her?

Has anyone thats been diagnosed with diabetes have headaches after eating as a symptom?
Filed under Diabetes QuestionsSep 15I am 23 years old, overweight, and recently began having headaches after I eat. It’s not every time I eat, and it’s no specific food or amount of food that triggers the headaches. I usually get one every other day or so. Ibuprofen doesn’t help, but they aren’t migranes. I am worried about a possibility of diabetes. My left foot/calf also gets tingly and swollen after sitting for a while. Ideas? I know I should obviously go to the doctor, but I can’t afford it right now.
