    The first questions that most patients ask when told about changing their eating habits and adopting a special food list for their diet is that why should they adopt a new diet? Why should they follow a food list? Why is it so necessary for them? The answer to these questions lies in the causes and effects of type 2 diabetes. Very few people are aware of the fact that type 2 diabetes is a direct result of eating disorders and unhealthy diets. Once diagnosed with diabetes, it becomes extremely important for the patients to take care of what’s going into their mouths and stomachs.

    Type 2 diabetes is tremendously a diet related disease. Patients should know that it is mostly caused by high intake of simple sugars and carbohydrates. One must wonder how must that be the cause of type 2 diabetes? The answer is very easy; simple carbohydrates can easily be broken by the digestive system and glucose is readily transferred into the blood stream. This means instant rise in blood sugar levels. Increased blood glucose levels trigger the pancreas, causing it to produce more insulin in order to get rid of such large amounts of sugar present in the blood. Otherwise, it can severely damage all the organs. But, if the blood sugar levels remain high over long periods of time then body develops a resistance against insulin and sugar remains intact in the blood stream. This condition is called type 2 diabetes or insulin resistance. This is why the patient should adopt a special diet.

    The next big question that arises in the mind is what should the patient eat then? To begin with a simple answer, the patient should adopt a diet that includes high ratio of complex carbohydrates, proteins, saturated fats and fibers. The foods that include all these good components are natural and usually considered healthy for anyone. It may be hard for some but patients should include most kinds of meats in their diet. Diabetics can have the pleasure of eating great food such as chicken, turkey and fish. They can even eat meats such as bacon, lamb and beef. All kinds of sea food are especially beneficial for them. Eggs are also a great addition but one should avoid too many eggs as they can make it difficult to maintain a healthy level of blood glucose.

    All kinds of cheese are good as they contain a good level of protein but still patients should consult their doctors before using them in large amounts as they contain a fair amount of fats too. Fresh and natural foods are a great source of complex carbohydrates. Foods such as fresh vegetables and fruits are superb options. Salad servings twice or thrice a day may prove to be a blessing. Patients should avoid overcooking of vegetables for their meals. Non flavored, plain yogurt is a yummy treat for diabetic patients. These are some basic foods for the type 2 diabetics, but one should still consult the doctor before following any diet.

    Obesity and type 2 diabetes often goes hand in hand. Trying to lose weight through control food intake is not only important, but also what you eat and how much you eat and the combination of what you eat together is just as important too. Foods react differently together and for the best performance and the best affect on your blood glucose level there are a few guidelines that you should follow.

    At mealtimes you need to have a combination of both carbohydrates and protein, with fat being limited, or in moderation. Most of the foods a diabetic will eat fall under the carbohydrate category. Carbohydrates are part of the essential makeup of the food, and in the digestive system, carbohydrates are broken down (eventually) to realize glucose, which provides the energy for our bodies. Carbohydrates can be found in:

    * Fruits

    * Vegetables

    * Beans

    * Dairy Products

    * Bread

    * Grains

    However, not all carbohydrates are created equally. A measure of the speed with which your body converts the carbohydrates into glucose is called the Glycemic Index, or GI for short. The faster a food converts into glucose, the higher the GI, and likewise the slower, the lower. The best carbohydrate foods for diabetics are the foods with low GI’s, as this means the body takes longer to process the carbohydrate food, thereby reducing spikes in blood sugar levels (which is what effectively happens with high GI foods) which often leads to obesity and Type 2 Diabetes.

    To help control and reduce blood sugars and lose weight, a diet where carbohydrates are managed or counted and controlled is necessary. Depending on your weight and height, a dietitian will provide you with a measure of carbohydrates that you can have at each meal. Some carbohydrates are obviously better choices than others, and wherever possible choose fresh and whole wheat options as these are also likely to have a lower GI.

    Choosing carbohydrates that are high in fiber can also help to reduce your blood glucose levels and can help stave off the hunger pangs for longer, since the bulk of the fiber will make your stomach feel fuller for longer. Higher fiber content allows you to eat more an item without suffering the consequences later on.

    At mealtimes, a small amount of protein (eggs, meat, fish, cheese, tofu, etc) is essential as well, as this will help counter-act the carbohydrate’s affect of raising blood sugars. Proteins take longer to digest and break down and therefore after a meal containing protein, you wont be left feeling hungry as quickly as if you didn’t have protein. Your protein choices need to be high quality protein that is not fried (based or grilled fish is probably the best). Also ensure you remove excess fat whenever is possible such as chicken skin before eating.

    Following a healthy eating plan should become a lifestyle choice, not a quick fix, or a short term diet. Having type 2 diabetes is the result often of a gluttonous lifestyle, and unhealthy eating, and it often would have taken years to develop. Controlling your Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes for the rest of your life, will take constant monitoring of your food intake, however with the correct value of carbohydrates at each meal combined with a protein can help you lose weight and get your type 2 diabetes under control. Also make time for exercising in your week too and you are sure to slowly lose weight and have more energy as a consequence.

    Good type 2 diabetes control is essential to minimizing the damage high blood sugar does. Having diabetes is life changing, but it needn’t be a life sentence. It provides the opportunity for you to start living a healthy, fulfilling life. If you want to get control of your type 2 diabetes, there is a natural way to control & normalize your blood sugar levels that definitely works. Find out more by going to Type 2 Diabetes Control

    With obesity levels being at an all time high, the epidemic of type 2 diabetes is growing at an alarming rate, and will only get worse. Between 2001 and 2002, the diagnosis of diabetes went from 5.5 percent of Americans to an alarming 6.5 percent. In just one year! It has continued to increase during the past 10 years at an increasing rate.

    Overall, twelve million Americans have been diagnosed and another 5 million Americans have diabetes and don’t know it. And yet another 12 millions are on their way to type 2 diabetes because of impaired glucose levels. To reverse diabetes type 2 diet and exercise can benefit millions of suffering individuals battling the illness. Not knowing is the worst because risks of untreated diabetes type 1 puts a person at a terrible risk of complications including but not limited to blindness, amputations and ultimately death.

    The stickler is, that type 2 diabetes is almost completely preventable. Doctor’ say eat less, eat better and exercise. The statistics confirm that there is an epidemic of overeating in America. Portions of food have significantly increased over the past 30 years so that daily caloric intake has risen dramatically. Ultimately, a healthy body weight means control of caloric intake. Using organic foods in the right combination is a natural diabetes treatment that can reverse the symptoms.

    Statistically, people are now living longer, and it has been on the rise for years. But this will not continue if type 2 diabetes is not put under control. We are a gluttonous society and ultimately it is affecting how we live and how long we live. And unfortunately, the diabetes epidemic is not just a US problem. It is spreading worldwide with epidemic reports in Asia, the Middle East and the Caribbean.

    It is estimated that by 2025, the number of diabetics worldwide will rise to 380 million. And diabetes is now affecting more of the young and middle-aged population in developing countries between the ages of 40 and 59. To reverse diabetes type 2 through healthy eating and living style can be accomplished and is key in reversing this trend.

    All too often we get sick but ignore the symptoms we may be feeling, shrugging them off to a cold, stress from work, or just not feeling well. There are certain symptoms that shouldn’t be ignored if they develop. These symptoms could lead to blindness, amputation of limbs, coma or even death.

    Symptoms of type 1 diabetes often come on suddenly and are severely dramatic. The extra stress of diabetes can lead to something called diabetic ketoacidosis. Symptoms of ketoacidosis may include nausea and vomiting, which may also lead to dehydration and serious problems with the blood levels of potassium. This could lead to a diabetic coma and ultimately death. Other symptoms of diabetes may include extreme fatigue. We all get tired at times, but diabetes triggers a more severe fatigue than normal. That is why it is essential to follow an appropriate type 2 diabetes diet.

    People with diabetes also experience unexplained weight loss. This is because they are unable to process many of the calories they consume. Losing sugar and water in the urine also contributes to the weight loss. Extreme thirst is another symptom of diabetes. Diabetes develops high blood sugar levels and the body tries to compensate by diluting the blood, which translates to our brain that we are thirsty.

    With this is also excessive urination. It is another way our bodies have of getting rid of the extra sugar in our system. But this can also lead to dehydration. This is why it is so important to get a healthy diet with an exercise program that can reverse the effects of these symptoms.

    One of the hardest symptoms to deal with is poor wound healing. Wounds heal slowly, if at all when the carrier has diabetes. This along with infections that are not easily remedied can attribute to ulcers and loss of limbs. This is a very cruel aspect of severe diabetes. A type 2 diabetes diet can reverse diabetes with a consistent program of healthy diet with the right foods and increased exercise to help lose weight.

    I have been interested in the possibilities of reversing type 2 diabetes naturally and have learned so much from professional sources. I can apply the techniques I have learned into real life situations. I found an amazing resource that you can can use to reverse your type 2 diabetes here at Natural Diabetes Treatment.

    Many women who never had diabetes are shocked when they are diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Food takes on a whole new meaning. It is the stuff of life – but, could also trigger a diabetic coma if you treat your diet casually. The good news is that your gestational diabetes and food suspicions will end as soon as the baby pops out. The better news is that nine months or so is good time to learn better eating habits for your overall health, not just your blood sugar levels. Pay Attention To Your Carbs With gestational diabetes and food, counting your daily intake of carbohydrates is key. Carbohydrates converts to glucose (blood sugar), which is what you will watching like a hawk. Carbohydrates effects your blood sugar and monitoring your blood sugar helps you with monitoring your carbohydrates. It might seem daunting at first, but you’ll get the hang of managing gestational diabetes with food. You want to make sure your carbs are spread out throughout your day. This is also true of your calories. With a growing baby, you need to eat about 300 extra calories per day. That means you will be eating about 2200 calories per day. Check with your doctor to be sure. You need to have five or six small meals rather than three large ones. You also need to cut out fatty meats, high fat snacks and lots of processed or fast food. A good idea is to fill a third of your plate with protein, a third with carbohydrates and another third with fruits and vegetables. Your Relationship With Food A major gestational diabetes risk is if you are overweight and over 25 when you get pregnant. This means you have probably been having some food issues and have been trying to have a better relationship with food, anyway. Well, gestational diabetes will force you to eat better. This will help not only your growing baby’s health and your blood sugar, but your joints, your heart and many other health conditions. With gestational diabetes, food intake alone will often not be enough to be sure that you and your baby get through the pregnancy okay. You also need to go to all of your check ups, learn to monitor your blood sugar, exercise regularly and take any medication prescribed. Please don’t do any fad diets, colon cleansings, fastings or any drastic measures like that. Your body will not be able to handle the shock.
